The Gimp is free and open source software that can be downloaded and used at home. Students are recommended to download a copy at home and play with image editing. This is a fully featured software package and the more it is used and played with the more the students will be able to do with it.
We will be working our way through a number of tutorials and class exercises.

The first tutorial done together as a class will be the layer mask tutorial.

The second tutorial done together as a class will be the lightsaber tutorial.
The Gimp exercises will then give us the skills to design and create images for our webpage Achievement standard that we will be doing after the Gimp.
We will be manipulating our own images and those that we find on the web. Mr Ross will show you how to search for images that you are allowed to use and change. You need to reference your Creative Commons images. Here is a document that explains how to do this.
Remember for each image that you use keep a note of the following ...
The author
The title of the work
Where you found the work
The license the work is released under
