On Wednesday 18th November Mr Ross and three year 10 girls went to Auckland for a programming challenge specifically aimed at year ten girls.
The competition used the free program called Alice (which can be downloaded at http://www.alice.org) and was aimed at showing these girls that programming is not a isolated individual pursuit for geeky guys.
The students had to program a dog to go around an obstacle course.
One of our members pulled out at the last minute and so Sam was teamed up with a girl from another school. Together they won the competition and recieved a gold medal.
Danielle and Nicola won bronze medals and all the girls got gift certificates for Westfield Malls.
After the competition we went to Sylvia Park for some Christmas shopping before coming home.
It was a great day and the girls did fantastically well.
