Y4-6 students had their first taste of triathlon on Friday 8 April when house teams competed for the honours. Teams of 3 - one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner - lined up in their house colours and showed immense competitive spirit and team work. Swimmers completed 2 lengths of the pool on the first leg and ran out of the pool area to tag their waiting cyclists. Cyclists then did two laps of the school field before handing over to the runner who then sprinted two laps of the track. Non competitors cheered loudly as their teams sped by. One young spectator was heard to say "This is a fantastic day!" Great fun for all, well done to all the participants and the final results were: 4th Buffalo, 3rd Matahouroa and equal 1st Mercury and Tainui.
