On Thursday 2nd June 10MJ travelled to Auckland to meet Bob and Freda Narev, two Holocaust survivors. Bob and Freda shared stories of their lives as childen during the Holocaust.
With information coming from a personal perspective it made it more real rather than watching a film or studying in the classroom. This gave us a better understanding of what people went through during this time. We also appreciated how open and honest Bob and Freda were and how they made themselves available to talk to us. The emotional aspect of not knowing what had happened to close family members or not knowing your exact birth date is one of the things that really hit us the most and made us think how we all should appreciate our families more.
We also visited Auckland Zoo as part of the Science Curriculum and the Holocaust Gallery and other exhibits in The Auckland War Memorial Museum.
Huge thanks go out to the parents involved with transport.
