Y8 students have just completed a series of snorkelling trips to Hahei to observe marine life. The three year 8 classes have been studying Marine Reserves in science and snorkelling in P.E. They planned to snorkel at Gemstone Bay in the Te Whanganui A Hei Marine Reserve however, due to slip damage, the visibility was zero. Instead they snorkelled at the southern end of Hahei Beach last week. All were pleased to find an abundance and variety of marine life, signs of a healthy marine environment. Highlights were sightings of eagle rays, king fish, squid, octopus and snapper.
