A set of tutorials and lessons for older students can be found at sense-lang
And despite the name freetypinggame has some good lessons too.
The Year 11 Applications Class of 2010 reviewed some online typing games.
Keyman
This game is like the classic pacman but you have to type the letters to move. There is a ghost thing that follows you and if it catches you you lose a life, you get three lives until you get game over.
A plus about this game is that it helps you remember where all the different keys are. Everytime you come to a wall the letters change so you have to remember all sorts of different keys.
However, you have to keep looking at the screen and the key board so you have to be really quick and it is quite hard. I find it interesting how you can eat the ghost before it eats you, but only if you get there quick enough after eating the red thing.

Spacebar Invaders
This is a good typing game that is based on the classic game ‘space invaders’. You must type the words correctly to kill the space invaders. If you see a UFO, you get extra points for annihilating it.
A plus, is that this game focuses on the “home row”.
A minus is that there are not many proper words.
This game is quite a good tool for learning to type properly. If you use the home row, you are more likely to get a better score. This is because you can type faster by using the home row. The faster you type, the more UFO’s/space invaders you kill.

Desert Typing Racer
in this typing games you have to type words to get the cars that are in front of you out of the way before they hit you and it gets faster the further you get.
Plus:
It is a good games if you need to improve your typing skills
Minus:
It can get boring, and if you don’t like the concept of cars then it isn’t for you
This games is pretty average in the way of typing games, but it is a it entertaining even though i would rather play a different type of game but that cant really be helped. Also i don’t like how it changes from words to random letters.

Typing Test
This is a typing test that times you and tells you how many words you type per minute.
The plus to this typing test is that is very accurate and it times you very well. It is quite challenging also because it only allows you a minute to type it all.
I found that the minus to it was that it had a lot of speech marks to type in and to me that was just a pain.
The interesting fact is that it times you, counts how many words you type per minute and counts your accuracy so that great!

Typing Fast
Typing Fast is a challenging new age game where you have to push the corresponding keys to turn left or right to stay on the stairs otherwise you fall you your death in the black abyss.
The Good: This game has awesome 3D graphics and game play that will keep you entertained for hours on end.
The Bad: You may get motion sickness from playing this game for prolonged periods of time.
Overall this game blends together great graphics and amazing game play to create a masterpiece that will be known worldwide in no time. I give this game an awesome 10/10!

QWERTY Warriors
This is QWERTY warriors 2 you are a man who has to fight of the opposing army and kill them by typing the words under them.
The positives are you don’t know what the words will be and so you have to type fast.
The bad things are there are items you can get that kill them all instantly.

Plus+ this is a good game as it targets your thinking and helps you practice your typing skills
Minus- this game can get annoying when there is two of a letter you want to remove because it can remove the one you didn’t want and ruin your entire game.
Interesting* this games interesting aspect is how it targets your mind and thinking as well as your typing skills even if only on a basic level.

Air Typer
In this game you are a plane and you have to fly over a distance all the time you have to type the words on the blimps to shoot them down
Positive: the good thing is you can’t look at the keyboard while you play or you will lose your lives.
Negative: there is a zapper and the zapper means when it is full you can destroy everything on the page.
What I found interesting is there are parts when balloons come from the bottom of the page.
