A flying visit

westpac27web westpac65web

What a start to Week 2 - a visit from the Westpac Helicopter Team who have been based in Mercury Bay for the summer!
Mr Morgan had the inspiration to bring the crew to school first thing Tuesday morning and give us all a chance to show just
how much we appreciate what they have been doing for our community.
Students from all ages laid on the ground and spelt out THANKS! and then many got the chance to hear from
the crew members themselves.

Special mention must also go to the group of touring motorcylists who turned up on their gleaming machines to add
weight to the 'exclamation mark'. One of their group had received treatment from the Wetpac crew during their stay
in the Bay and they wanted to contribute to the occasion.

Careers websites - match qualifications and careers

It is important that our senior students plan for their futures. To help match interests and qualifications to future career requirements we will be interviewing our Y12 and Y13 students at various points throughout the year. To help them in this process please  check out the careers website. It's their future, so please spend time talking this through in your families and with careers advisors.

Y9 take on the challenges

img_3008wThe new year has begun and our new Y9 students have successfully faced the
challenge of new home rooms, new routines and a day of problem solving activities.

The challenges are designed to get students working together developing their
cooperation and teamwork skills. They included activities that required thinking skills as
well as those which were largely physical.

All link back to the New Zealand Curriculum and the key competencies;
thinking, managing self, relating to others, partcipating and contributing.
Well done Y9 - a great start!
